  5. To demystify the over peddled myths and narratives on mental health and embrace it as a normal condition that need addressing as any other disease

Activities

To realize our objectives in this panel discussion, we structured our panel discussion into different parts that will provide an opportunity for each of the associated concerns to be brought to focus. We plan to have these take place during the session to bring all delegates on board for the session to make them get better and empowered at the end of the session:

  1. Testimonies from people who have dealt with mental conditions
  2. Discussion on various mental health concerns with experienced panelists dealing with mental health at various levels. The areas of concern will be:
    a. Factors contributing to various mental health conditions i.e. causes and predisposing factors. Common conditions being depression, OCD, PTSD and Anxiety/Panic disorders.
    b. Drug abuse as a contributing factor and a perceived coping mechanism for mental health concerns.
    c. Mental health concerns and Relationships.
    d. Management options for varied mental health conditions.
    e. Optimal solutions to address the mental health menace that is on the rise.
    f. Influence of family background in ones’ mental status and how to cope.
    g. Cultural and social influences on mental health.
    h. Existent working programs and needed programs.

The best cure for most mental cases is a support framework/system and that is what we endeavor to provide in our quest to promote the realization of a healthy and productive populace.
